The Low Down

At Skudin Surf our employees are our biggest stars. Interested in joining our team? We begin hiring seasonal employees in the spring for our 3 locations: Long Beach, Rockaway Beach & Lido Beach. This page will be updated with instructions on how to apply when we approach hiring season.

Returning employees, please check your email and Humanity App in mid-March for notices about rehiring.  Please do not have your parents facilitate communication on your behalf.

All applicants must be 16 years and older. Under 16
(14 & 15 years old) join our CIT Program, register on the kids camp page.

Requirements

All applicants will be interviewed and must pass tryout session. All new employees will go through a training process and must attend mandatory staff meetings. All employees need CPR & First Aid certificates (we offer certification classes in June). For a fee we also offer Life Guard certification courses- preferred for all surf instructors; required for directors and ocean managers. All staff must wear uniforms (shirt/rash guard) and look and act respectable at all times. We are an equal opportunity employer.

Surf Instructors

• Must have surf experience and be a good swimmer
• Shifts are offered 7 days a week for Long Beach & Rockaway
• We expect all employees to be available during camp hours Monday-Friday.
  • ex) Lido Beach Town Park  Beach Mon-Fri 11:30 am -3:30 pm
• Specify your availability on your application
  • Because we run a relatively short 8-10 week program (depending on location), we expect staff to be available for most of those weeks.
• Instructors need their own wetsuit (we may have supplier discounts available).

Tent Managers

• Must have good organizational skills
• Shifts offered 7 days a week
• Specify your availability on your application
• This position is for all locations
  • You must be able to travel to and from each location.

Beach Counselors

• Must be responsible
• Like to work with kids and be a self starter
• Weekday positions
• This position is for all locations
