Surf Camps

At Skudin Surf, we strive to provide a fun and enriching experience for all our campers. We aim to provide a unique and efficient experience for all. We also understand that circumstances can change, so we’ve established the following cancellation policy to ensure clarity and fairness for everyone involved.

 

Definitions

Account Credit: Dollar amount saved to your customer profile on our camp management platform. This can be compared to a “store credit” which can be used for any services at Skudin Surf. Purchases at Skudin Surf Camps and Lessons (Long Island & NYC) are not transferrable to Skudin Surf at American Dream. Account credits hold no cash value and will not be transferred to cash unless required by law. Account credits expire after two years from their issuance date. Price differences may apply. You will be responsible for any difference in pricing between your account credit and the current pricing of camps and/or lessons.

 

  1. Cancellation Deadlines and Refunds

All requests are dated from when we receive them. Please see section 2 on how to submit a cancellation request.

 

If a cancellation request is received…

  1. Within 24 hours of registration
    1. Refund or Account Credit: You have the option to receive an account credit or refund back to the original card.
  2. 90 Days or More Before Camp Start Date
    1. Account Credit: The price you paid will be fully credited to your account without any fees removed. Credit expires after 2 years from issuance. Price differences may apply to future registrations, which you will be responsible for.
    2. Refund: Full refund to the original card minus a $50 administrative fee per camper.
  3. More than 30 Days Before Camp Start Date
    1. Account Credit: The price you paid will be fully credited to your account without any fees removed. Credit expires after 2 years from issuance. Price differences may apply to future registrations, which you will be responsible for.
    2. Refund: 75% of camp tuition (not inclusive of fees you may have paid during registration).
  4. 15 to 30 Days Before Camp Start Date
    1. Account Credit: The price you paid will be fully credited to your account without any fees removed. Expires after 2 years. Price differences may apply to future registrations.
    2. Refund: 50% of the camp fees (not inclusive of fees you may have paid during registration).
  5. 14 Days or Less Before Camp Start Date
    1. Only for the following will account credits will be issued.
      1. Medical Emergency: Doctor’s note required.
      2. Family Emergency: Handled on a case-by-case basis.

 

  1. Refund: No refund will be issued. If you/your child have a family or medical emergency, please email [email protected] with relevant documents. We will handle each request on a case-by-case basis.
  1. No-Shows
    1. There will be no refund, account credit, or make up day(s) for camp sessions you/your child is registered for but does not attend, even with written prior notice.
  2. How to Cancel
    1. Written Notice Required
      1. All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing through email. Our email is [email protected].
    2. Effective Date
      1. The date we receive your written cancellation will determine the refund amount according to the deadlines above.

 

  1. Medical and Emergency Cancellations
    1. Medical Reasons
      1. If a camper is unable to attend due to a legitimate medical emergency, an Account Credit will be provided upon receipt of a doctor’s note. Issuances of an Account Credit are at the discretion of Skudin Surf.
    2. Family Emergencies
      1. Cancellations due to serious family emergencies will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us as soon as possible with relevant documentation.

 

  1. Switching Sessions
    1. Session Changes
      1. Changes to camp sessions are subject to availability.
      2. Requests must be made at least 14 days prior to the original session start date.
  • A $25 administrative fee may apply for each session change.

 

  1. Camp Dismissal
    1. Behavioral Dismissal
      1. No refunds nor Account Credits will be issued if a camper is dismissed from camp due to behavioral issues or violations of camp policies. Details on how we handle inappropriate behavior can be found in our Camp Disciplinary Policy.

 

  1. Camp Cancellation by Skudin Surf

Due to the environment of our unique camp experience, operations are at the mercy of Mother Nature. We must cancel camp from time to time to ensure camper and staff safety. Common reasons include (but are not limited to) wave size; rip current warnings; thunderstorms; storm warnings; etc. We do not cancel sessions and will not offer refunds/account credits for rainy days (as long as the beach is open), as it’s completely safe to surf in the rain. Administration, our on-staff lifeguards, and local city/town-employed lifeguards work together to closely monitor conditions. We will alert you if conditions change unexpectedly. Add us to your email contacts so you are alerted to critical information and changes during camp.

  1. Wave Conditions
    1. Skudin Surf camps & Lessons are dependent upon the wave conditions. We make no guarantee to the amount of waves you will catch during your session. Since ocean conditions are not something we can control, refunds or credits for low-quality conditions are not offered. We make reasonable efforts to predict low-quality conditions and may give you the option to reschedule if your session is affected.
  2. Communication
    1. We will inform you of the need to cancel a camp session as early as we can. Our main line of communication with you as a parent/guardian is through the email address you provide on your enrollment form. If opting in to text messaging is an option, please do that as well. All registrants are assumed to be opted into text message alerts unless they specifically alert us otherwise in writing. We do not use your phone number for marketing or promotional purposes, only for critical alerts.
    2. Due to how fast the weather can change, we may need to end surfing during camp. This is typically due to weather systems drastically increasing in severity within a short time period (after camp starts). In this case, you will receive an email as soon as possible. Please ensure your email notifications are on. Of course, our staff will be on-site to supervise all campers waiting to be picked up by their parent/guardian until the end of the camp day.
  3. Cancellation Credits
    1. If we cancel a camp session due to weather, ocean conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances, you will receive a promo code for the affected day(s) to be used for either camps or lessons. You’ll have the opportunity to use the account credit the same summer or next.
    2. Transferability: Account credits or promo codes created for sessions canceled by Skudin Surf are eligible for transfer to another participant (i.e., a friend/family member). The new participant must register under their own name and information and sign our liability waiver. Please contact us for assistance.

 

  1. Force Majeure
    1. No Refunds
      1. We are not liable for cancellations due to events beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, government regulations, pandemics).
      2. There are no refunds provided for days when the surf is low. We use our resources to attempt to forecast surf conditions that are unsuitable for camp and will notify you if that is the case (providing similar credit options as defined in section 6, Camp Cancellation by Skudin Surf). If we are unable to predict a low-quality surf day, Campers will still participate in land-based and water-based activities (conditions permitting), learning ocean and environmental curriculum as defined on our website and/or booking site.

 

  1. Agreement to Terms
    1. Acceptance
      1. By registering for our camp, you agree to abide by these terms and cancellation policy.
      2. Out of fairness to all, there are absolutely no exceptions to this policy.

Sale Terms

 

Skudin Surf offers sales on its programs from time to time. The following terms apply.

  1. Sale price cannot be combined with any other offers (i.e., discounts for memberships, organizations, career types, etc.)
  2. Sales can be withdrawn or extended at any time at the discretion of Skudin Surf.
  3. Technical difficulties will be resolved on a case-by-case basis. If you miss the sale due to a technical error on our site or third-party partners, you may email us for support. Skudin Surf will honor the sale price so long as your support email is dated within the active timeframe of the sale.
  4. Already discounted programs, like the Summer Pass, are excluded from sales.
  5. Skudin Surf reserves the right to change these terms at any time for any reason.
