The goal of our program is to make surfing more fun for each and every student. How do you make surfing more fun? By getting better during every session. The Hurley Surf Club powered by Skudin Surf is committed to seeing every participant progress on their continuous journey.
All coaches are certified by the International Surfing Association, CPR and Lifeguard certified.
Skudin Surf’s new multiple person van will serve as a shuttle depending on conditions during the particular day or week. The itinerary will include but not be limited to skateparks, athletic training facilities, trampoline and gymnastic centers for off site surf training, and different surf spots from Rockaway to Nickerson.
Video analysis is one of the most progressive ways to improve your surfing. This technique is used by the most elite and top professional surfers in the world and has seen proven results.
Our coaches will film your surfing session in full from the beach, then bring your surfing into slow motion on our high definition screen located in the HSC facility, where they can go through your waves in detail.
Street + Skate Board Training
Surf conditions are constantly changing and don’t always let you work a specific skill. Using skateboard practice creates a similar feeling of surfing and allows you to practice a maneuver until getting back in the water.
The use of skateboard ramps and street course will be used in weekly practice in order to maximize surfing progression.
Equipment and Surf Forecast Information
Equipment and preparation play a major role in making your session the best it can be. It will be discussed in detail which boards are suitable for your ability and read forecasts effectively to get the best conditions possible.
Fitness + Mobility Training
Quality surf training assists in performing better in the water. By being prepared for a session, surfers should know specific warm-up and stretching techniques to avoid injury. While on land, it is important to improve stamina and total shape with specific exercises that will boost your performance overall.
The use of trampolines and air bags are common among gymnasts for the purpose of training your body and mind to feel orientated while spinning in the air. Our coaches will assist students in the correct way to successfully land aerial maneuvers consistently.
Weekly and daily itinerary are subject to change based on surf conditions and forecasts.
Students are responsible for bringing their own wetsuits, surfboards, sunscreen, sneakers and clothing to change into. Hurley lycra rash guards, helmets and pads, and skateboards will be provided.
Coaching trips will be included to select ESA Competitions throughout the summer, allowing participants to utilize personal coaching during heats.
Drop off at 7:45 am at the Hurley Surf Center located at 1 Riverside Boulevard. Please have your child ready to surf, bring a bathing suit, change of dry clothes, sneakers, towel, LUNCH, SNACKS & DRINKS in a back pack.
Pick up is at 1 pm at same location.
